Porcelain and handmade paper (abaca) forms: silk, cotton, alpaca, mohair, cashmere
Variable – 1.5” x 2”, 3” x 3”, 8” x 5”; 2025
These pieces are part in a series of ceramic and paper woven objects. They are in relationship with one another; hybrid instrument, screen, tapestry and dwelling. The structures are formed in porcelain, cast in paper and woven with thread and yarn - silk, cotton, alpaca, mohair, cashmere. When the warp is supported by the clay body, the process of moving needle and thread through as weft chirps a light, crisp sound of taut thread resonating with its vessel. The sound is vibration and pattern, made possible as the body contains structure and the thread, a capacity for movement. They are each animated by their floating shadows, delicate in entirely unique ways.
